Community Inclusion Program
This program is designed
to support families as they take their child with special needs to typical recreational activities and educational programs such as swim lessons,
Kindergym, etc., in their own communities.
Consultation Project
The Behavioral Consultation Project provides free, on-site consultation to childcare and preschool programs serving children 0–5 years old (before Kindergarten). We work collaboratively with childcare providers, preschool teachers and families to address behavioral, temperamental, developmental or mental health issues. We offer consulting for inclusion support of children with special needs. We can also do staff training and workshops on a variety of topics. The project is a partnership of Early Learning Institute, Jewish Family and Children Services, and ABC Special Start. To make a referral please call ELI at (707) 591-0170.
Challenging Behavior Series
The Behavioral Consultation Project, in partnership with 4Cs, Sonoma County Child Care Association, and Sonoma County Association for the Education of Young Children, is offering a 3-night series on working with children with challenging behavior.
The workshop is for family childcare providers, teachers, and licensed exempt providers. Participants will learn how to identify common causes of behavior and effective ways of guiding children. The focus will be on positive, relationship based approaches such as Teacher Child Interaction Training and Positive Behavioral Supports.
After each workshop, participants can receive support via phone, web or site visits to integrate the workshop information into their program. Professional growth hours available for CARES participants. Food will be provided.
