What is the Teaching Pyramid?

A training that gives you all the tools you need to support healthy social-emotional development in young children. Healthy social-emotional development greatly reduces challenging behavior! You will learn ways to strengthen relationships with children, families and your team so everyone works together. You will learn how to modify your environment to work better for children. You will learn how to teach children about their emotions and most importantly how to express and manage their biggest feelings safely. Teaching Pyramid supports all of that and more through an evidence-based and comprehensive approach.

  • It is used across California, the United States and internationally in Australia. Many programs around Sonoma County are trained in Teaching Pyramid including the Santa Rosa Junior College Child Development program, 4Cs Centers, North Bay Children’s Center sites, Headstart, Storybook Village, Gan Israel, Tiny Tots of Petaluma, Mt Taylor, Sonoma State Children’s School, Multicultural Child Development Center and more. Programs of all types participate in this training: private, faith based, state funded, TK, family childcare, and special education.

  • The Teaching Pyramid is a comprehensive, school year-long training series with on-site, strength-based coaching and leadership teams for site directors and administrators. The Preschool content is appropriate for ages 2.5-6. Much of it is adaptable for programs with younger 2-year-olds too. The preschool training is in person at Sonoma County Office of Education and offered in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish. Coaching may be delivered by a bilingual coach depending on availability. TP for family childcare and early education are also offered by community partners. Individual trainings can be arranged if funding is available. Applications are released in the Spring for the following fall.
